Canine - Bovine - Equine

Last weekend, the girls and I went for a nice visit to Mallard Haven (aka: grandma & grandpa's place).  It is always so very relaxing out there.  Sitting on the deck, listening to birds instead of telephones, and just kicking back to a slower pace of life for a few days.

Baby K learned some new signs: dog & cow.  When we "moo" to tell her what the cow says, she always giggles.  She was afraid of the dog at first, but quickly grew accustomed to his antics.  He loves to be around the family and baby K was especially interesting.  The cows were also intimidating to her.  Saturday morning, we helped grandpa feed the stock and K had to ride the gate as it opened and closed.

Taylor's big excitement for the weekend was taking the new paddle boat onto the pond for the afternoon.  All 5 of us went out on the pond and took cupcakes for a snack and quick energy.  Baby K really likes chocolate cupcakes!  Despite the sun and heat, we had a great time.  Thankfully, the pond is not too big, so our legs weren't too sore the next day.  As we were launching it into the water, Taylor was on the back and came very close to the water surface.

Saturday evening, we had pure country entertainment: the local horse auction.  We had never been and it was really quite interesting.  All the tack, saddles, and other equipment is sold first, so by the time the horses make it to the block it was getting late.  We did not see much, but were able to walk around in the back and see them before they sold.  Again, baby K was apprehensive at such large and loud animals.  She has never heard a horse whinny so loud.

All in all, it was an awesome weekend and we all had a great time.
