Cousin Camp - Day 1

What do you get when you mix 3 grown siblings, a spouse, grandparents, aunt & 8 grandchildren?

COUSIN CAMP
Alison, Tiffany & Taylor are showing their Joy.

In an attempt to save some money, we decided to have our own camp at Mallard Haven this summer.  The 3 mommies would each have a day to coordinate: devotional, music, food, crafts, games, etc.  Despite the oppressive heat, everything went very well.

Day 1 - Fruits of the Spirit - Luau Theme

What fun!  We woke up to wonderful decorations & had sunshine toast for breakfast.  Yum.

Every morning began with a flag raising and prayer.  A team of 2 kiddos led the flag raising each day. A great learning opportunity.  Of course, grandpa helped.
Timothy and Anthony (our resident Royal Rangers) were very capable flag raisers that first day.

Our snacks & food included fruit kabobs rolled in coconut, coconut milk, fish crackers in luau cups, & teriaki chicken with rice for dinner.
K enjoyed her crackers

T loved the coconut & fruit!
Activities
There was a coloring contest, fruit race and of course a hula contest.
Baby K is watching Anthony.
Trying it herself
Taylor won the coloring contest.
Baby K & Ryland compete in the fruit race.  Ryland won, because the dog was in K's way.  Her terror of dogs hindered her, but she did finish the race.

Hula Hoop Contest
Taylor did great, and I think she won too by just a few seconds.

Baby K, learning how to hula hoop.  It just ended up falling on the ground, but she sure was cute trying.

Grandpa participated too.

Devotions
Learning the Fruit of the Spirit, we had to have fruit.  Each camper had their own bag of fruit & we learned about each fruit of the spirit & how to apply them to our lives.

The other devotional was a Jenga game with the fruits of the Spirit on each piece, and with Jesus in the center.  If we don't have Jesus in the center, our tower will fall.

A good time was had by all.  And since you slogged through our long story of day 1, we leave you with a very happy little girl.  Keep an eye out for day #2, the Armor of God.

What a fun idea! I love the picture of your nephew when the Jenga tower looks like it's about to fall. Too cute!
