Curve balls & growing up

Just when you think you have life all worked out and scheduled - God throws you a curve ball!

My sister and I were notified on Wednesday that our grandmother had passed away that morning. The funeral will be on Saturday at 3:00. Naturally, we all had weekend plans, including a garage sale, baby shower, and church activities. Thankfully, the family graciously worked around most of the events, but we still have some arranging to do.

I am grateful that we are fairly close and can make the trip within a day, where some other family members have over 10 hours in the car, injuries, or much more hectic schedules than ours. I am also grateful that I am not so close to my due date that I am required to stay home or making the trip with a newborn baby.

We told Taylor last night and this is the first family member of hers that has died. It is hard, even though she did not really KNOW her great-grandmother, it is a growing up process. This will be her first funeral also, and that is always a sobering experience.

Bill and I look at the past few weeks and wonder what God is trying to teach us or how we should be growing. I am reminded that as a light to our path, God just give us the next step, so we are stepping forward and trusting His plan and His path, curve balls and all.

I'm sorry Charity. What a stressful weekend. I will pray for you this am. The hubs is working today, so I can't come to the shower, but I may just run something by the church while they are in the car. If not I'll see you at church.
