Miss Manners

Have you ever been on a roller coaster and as you top that first hill you think, "Wait, what have I done?".  I have these thoughts more and more as our beautiful daughter matures into a lovely young lady.

Bill and I have often discussed having semi-formal meals where we teach our girls etiquette.  It has always just been talk, but I finally decided to put it on the calendar.  So tonight, Miss Manners joined us for dinner.  We set the table with various silverware, multiple plates and bowls and cups.

We also all dressed up for the occasion.

First course: Carrot bisque with leeks
Second course: Caesar salad and baguette bread (I had hoped to make home made rolls, but time got away from me.)
Third course: Steak and grilled parmesan potatoes
Fourth course: angel food cake with strawberries

We spent a lot of time talking about proper ways to do things, but in the end just had a great meal and enjoyed spending time as a family.

After talking to you today, we are also going to start doing this! This would not only teach the boys good mannners but also how to treat a lady when they're out to dinner.
