Wins & Losses

Wow, it has been a very long time since I have posted anything.  I always have such good intentions, but then life gets in the way.  That being said, this will still be a short post, but an update none the less.

T recently ran for Student Council for her Junior High School.  We made posters, flyers and she wrote a speech.  My how the guidelines have changed over the years, but some things never change.  In my opinion, it is still very much a popularity contest.  Only 8 students are chosen and close to 40 were running.  She was not one of the 8.  We were sorry for her to experience that disappointment, but somewhat relieved about the time investment that we escaped.
Her posters were lime green with zebra print letters and zebra print ribbon to hang it from.  She did get very positive comments on her poster design.  Some of the others put up after hers had feather boas, lights and free silly bands (despite the rigid rule of no bribery).  T was not allowed to put up a sign over the water fountains that said "Free drinks on me, vote for Taylor B".  It was considered bribery. Seriously! It was over the water fountain. Sorry, my maternal protective instinct coming out.

On a brighter note, she also tried out for All Region Choir and was chosen to participate.  We worked at home many nights and I was able to give her a few pointers.  However, she had an awesome opportunity last week.  We were practicing before worship team and learned that Bethany was going to judge All Region (a different region though).  She listened to T and gave her some wonderful insight and helpful tips.  Thanks!  We will now have a time investment in that, but it is well worth it.  We are so very proud of her and her hard work.  God has truly given her some musical talent; we trust she will use it to His glory.

I missed MOPS b/c K has a double ear infection and had not been fever free for 24 hours. I was sorry to miss it, but have to keep everyone healthy. She was fussy anyway.
